Our lab is based in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale University. Our mission is to provide mechanistic insights into chromosome segregation with a particular focus on female meiosis. We are also dedicated to understanding why mammalian eggs are remarkably susceptible to chromosome segregation errors that are associated with human infertility and genetic disorders. In the lab, we apply techniques ranging from advanced microscopy and protein manipulation assays to interrogate meiosis. We are also developing transformative experimental systems for biochemical reconstitution and spatiotemporal control of protein function during oocyte meiosis. We are combining these array of cutting-edge methodologies to address fundamental open questions in biology concerning the mechanisms of cytoskeletal self-organization and dynamics during chromosome segregation.
